
again, while in ny, i had the...um...i wouldn't say pleasure under the circumstances...but opportunity to meet the editor in chief of a new publication, pop'africana. oroma elewa is one hardcore, young 20something business woman; no sugarcoating with her. she is true to her nigerian roots. with everything she endured while i met her, its a wonder how she has managed to even compose the e-zine. everytime i saw oroma, she was sitting at her computer either editing photos, corresponding cross country or overseas with a current/future contributor, or strategizing the upcoming issue's editorials, even tho she didn't have a place to call home. and such a frail frame to handle so much work. she's truly and inspiration and so is her work. i wish i had this...um, opportunity sooner in life. she's now well on her way back to africa, looking for new inspiration to visually educate the world with and the hopes of opening a vintage lingerie boutique, with pieces she's been collecting for years.
