kudder on mtv...

"make her say" is the new video from kid cudder featuring kanye and common. (he calls himself cudder on twitter) i'm actually surprised at 2, possibly 3 things. 1. that this song made it to be a single due to the overly sexual content. 2. that lady gaga's management didn't suggest her face in the video. maybe one rapper association is enough for her image. ya heard? and 3. that kanye's out direction didn't offend the audience again. i see he tried to go in the opposite direction from drake's less chopped, more screwed erotic soft porn. i'm guessing to counteract the lyrics. the light and airy monotone colors reminds me of Alexandre Herchcovitch fall 2008 color palette but lighter, like a modern miami vice palette...

while the lyrics are illicit and promiscuous, the visuals are innocent and serene. almost dream like. the video is slightly boring, along the lines of "best i ever had" but luckily kanye remembered to add motion, shapes, and good direction of photography/cinematography (common's scenes are the most visually stimulating). all of this deters you from the lyrics. i'm not sure what count down cudder wants to see his video on, with there hardly being any outlets anymore, but hopefully the art direction, and of course, the song itself will lead him to a #1 spot.
