i just came across a commercial that really hit home. there's a new campaign called think before you speak , that is against the offensive phrase "that's so gay" featuring hilary duff and wanda sykes.
this campaign aims to raise awareness about the prevalence and consequences of anti-LGBT bias and behavior in America’s schools. Ultimately, the goal is to reduce and prevent the use of homophobic language in an effort to create a more positive environment for LGBT teens.
me and my friend @whitegreg were just having this conversation about using the word "gay" and when and where its appropriate to use it. i can admit to using this offensive phrase repeatedly growing up and in recent times, especially when talking about greg. we need to become more responsible and think about what we say and what we mean. although, when using some slang or phrases the intent is not to hurt, the words can be seen as a form of harassment and have serious consequences. i'm happy to see a widespread position on this subject.
this second video is a psa on behalf of a high school. they actually take a more humorous approach to the not so light hearted subject.
