in this day and age of vast technology, as well as trying to take care of myself in a dwindling economy while living in an urban environment, i sometimes ponder on the more simpler things in life...childhood. no worries because my parents and grandma took care of me. i was the baby and the only girl, so i had it oh so great from every angle. i remember going to church with my grandma and her letting me wear what i wanted. no one could tell me nothing! i had free expression. we also sung duets together. while the congregation looked at us all crossed eyed and furrow browed, i stood there eating cheerios in a velvet dress and long johns on, attempting to sing a song my grandma had just made up a week ago. oh what fun, embarrassing times. but the beauty in those times is that i had no idea what was going on. complete innocence from all the corruption in the world.

my mommy and daddy chillin in the 80s...
my mommy and daddy made it even better by spoiling me with all the material possessions a kid could want, as well as instilling in me the value of tradition, and that you can't get anywhere without hard work. my mom worked several jobs at once for our family to be able to live the fortunate life we did, and i appreciate it. she still made time for family trips, extricurricular activities, play dates, homework, dinner...and my daddy, he's a cool mofo. one funny, but stern guy. because of my dad, guys think i'm cool because i played basketball and watched WWF and can imitate the "macho man"...

shirley stylin' and profilin'...
and don't think shirley didn't teach me a thing or two about fashion...
