Guess that ladies don't love limited-edition sneakers quite as much as men do: Laces, a women's-only sneaker boutique at 252 Mott Street between Houston and Prince Streets, has said goodbye to the retail world. When we walked by the space earlier today, all the Nikes and Reeboks had been cleared out and a "For Rent" sign marked the glass storefront; their website has also been wiped clean. The shop lasted for a little over two years, which isn't terribly bad for Nolita.

i actually recall visiting laces once and i was extremely disappointed in their selection. although the space was small, ladies only had a handful of shoes to choose from, which all had a pink colorway or somehow extremely feminine. the only shoe i can remember being displayed was the gold and pink crocodile air force 1. laces actually had the complete pack displayed several times. they must have really thought this was the hotness, which it wasn't. i'm actually not surprised they're closed for business. with this industry you have to be able to provide to a specific consumer and then the rest will come. you cant have a female oriented sneaker store without dope sneakers and unfortunately, the market does not really cater to women like they do for men. there was no way that store could survive on women's sneakers alone, so the inventory should have consisted of some women's sneakers, kids, and smaller sized men's shoes. that would have been dope...but enough with the shoulda, coulda, wouldas...
a moment of silence for laces please...
one less store to cop sneakers from...

Laces always had the hottness! you had to come when they got the shipments in.. If you didn't, well then you were subjected to what was left on the wall. The guys who owned the store Louis and Jason (i think) were always great (i think they're the same guys who do Kicksclusive), if they didn't have what I wanted they would tell me who had it! Not to mention all the Red bull vitamin water and Pepsi I got from them. Laces always had the best parties.. Hopefully they'll come back one day.. :(
anyway love the site!
