this guy is my new obsession! at least his work is...i love his illustrations. they're so inspiring and his style is very refreshing to see in the world of fashion. i'm so used to seeing the more traditional style of copied fashion forms rather than a more unique approach such as the comic-book style that throup uses. his use of color, drab and muted, and the forms his carictures take add a primitive and animal-like perspective to his illustrations. throup has taken his characters to the next level, sculpting them and then making a garment pattern based on the pose of the character’s form in motion. he calls this process, “branding through construction”. most of throup's influence comes from reinterpreting the comic books he read as a child and the films produced from the comics, as well as his time working as a shop assistant at the cp company, a key producer of football garments in the u.k. he used the combination of violence and creativity as inspiration of his own line. but throupe doesn't like being referred to as a fashion designer because he doesn't want to limit himself and design is just an element of what he does and love. he is simply an artist.
