the autobiographical tale of hip-hop's first business mogul, russell simmons. he set the path many of the industry's entertaining dons, such as diddy, jay-z and dame dash. while his life wasn't a hard one, he set out to explore all that ny had to offer him. while experimenting with drugs, gangs, sex, and money, in the back of his mind, hip-hop was always calling to him. he knew he didnt possess the skills to actually be in front of the crowd, but he met and surrounded hisself with creative people everyday and made things happen. i need to take heed to this skill...bringing ideas to fruition...
i'm only halfway thru the book, so i still have lots more to soak up, but i recommend this book to anyone with an entreprenurial spirit or just have a love for hip-hop.
