telephoned: off the hook mixtape



also in music, i just discovered maggie horn, finally, for myself. i've heard the name, never the music, like most artists. i'm sure we may have even met and possibly partied together, but never knew her work. if i did, i'd prolly been a groupie and freakishly awkward around her. thanks to my trusty email newsletters, i ran across her new project with dj/producer sammy bananas of fool's gold. the mixtape is a compilation of popular tracks, not remixes or covers, but modern, dance floor worthy reworks that still embodies originality. all 18 tracks can be downloaded individually from rcdlbl.com.

3rd ward is presenting a group show featuring 26 of the world's best emerging photographers from october 16-25, 2009.
open night is october 16th from 7-10, with complimentary wine from bear flag and colt 45.

the bushwick film festival starts today and runs thru the weekend. for $8 a day or $20 for the whole weekend, you can enjoy the art of film making, all while supporting these talented artists and drinking free beer. be sure to check out the website for  the schedule of screenings...
